April 1, 2012 Reveal
Hello again! Today is the big reveal date for the small bead swap that Keri Sereika of Pink Lemonade organized for a group of fellow beaders.
If you remember from past blog posts, I was paired with Linda Younkman of Lindy's Designs. Linda sent me this lovely assortment of bead goodies:
Here is what I came up with after a lot of arranging and rearranging, sketching ideas, wire wrapping, alterations causing breakage (cursing), and stringing..... whew, I'm done!
Here's the necklace. You'll notice that the focal leaf is missing it's backdrop. Well, being the kind of person who can't leave well enough alone, I decided I didn't want to have it hang as pictured above. I decided to drill two more holes in it and have the leaf hanging from the long side. All was well until I then decided I that the focal didn't have enough weight to it to keep it from flipping over so I drilled another hole to hang the matching lampwork bead I made from the bottom. Guess what happened?
Yup, it broke.
All is well, I actually like what I wound up doing better! Below you'll see the lampwork bead I created after receiving the package from Linda knowing that I wanted to use it somewhere in one of the pieces.
A better shot of the pendant:
Bracelet:
Earrings:
I really like the mis-matched wire colors in all the pieces, a little bit of gold, a little bit of copper and a little bit of brass too! Doesn't the messy (on purpose) wire wrapping in the earrings remind you of wild vines in nature? Speaking of mis-matched, did you notice what I did with the clasps for the necklace and bracelet?
Don't forget to visit my partner's blog Lindy's Designs to see what she created with the goodies I sent:
~~GIVEAWAY~~
Winner to be drawn, Monday, April 9, 2012
I had originally planned on doing the giveaway for one of the pieces I created. But, since these all go so well together, I just can't stand to orphan any of them. So, the giveaway will now be for the ENTIRE set, necklace, bracelet AND earrings.
All you have to do to have a chance at winning is leave a comment below, say anything you wish, keeping it pg rated of course. You can also share this on your facebook page for an extra entry! Leave a separate comment for the extra entry.
On Monday, April 9, 2012, I will take the number of comments to random.org and have a number drawn. That person will win the entire set. Everyone can enter!
Make sure I have a way to contact you for your mailing address, otherwise I won't be able to send these beauties to you.

Glad to know that I'm not the only one that takes focals apart in bead swaps... Never broken anything but I did loose my focal for 10 days in one bead swap! Panic was setting in! Great colours and I really like what you did with your 'soup'!
ReplyDeleteThis is so much fun hopping through to see what everyone did using their beads! Love your set! The fact that the original focal broke doesn't really even matter because you don't notice!!! :) Great job using what you were sent!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the focal but your lampwork focal is even better than what I sent. It looks awesome. You did a great job. I love the focal and colors you sent me. An I'm getting comments about the tangerine that you sent being the color of the year. Great job.
ReplyDeleteThat is a shame about the focal breaking. However - the lampwork focal you used looks great! I really really love this set - especially the earrings. The way you coordinated beads of all different sizes in the necklace, and the way the colors look so good together - it is positively inspired! I could wear this set with a number of outfits. Thanks for offering the set as a giveaway! - Lisa Lodge
ReplyDeleteI really love what you did, and glad to see the different color metals work. I'm working on a piece that I'm mixing too, and you are right, they do go well together. The only difference for mine, if that I'm putting silver, copper, and brass together, instead of the gold. This would be a fun set to win! If I win, you can message me at my http://tappingflamingo.blogspot.com/ and I will send you my address. Good luck, everyone!
ReplyDeleteI facebooked this on my personal facebook and my Treasures by Terry facebook.
ReplyDeleteLove the set ...esp the earrings. The combination of different metals is great !!
ReplyDeleteWow, very beautiful, Bryna!!! I absolutely love your wire wrapping!!! =)
ReplyDeleteSometimes the most beautiful things come from "mistakes"! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteReally like the selection of pieces you made from your soup bits Bryna - lovely earthy tones!
ReplyDeleteI adore the earrings and bracelet..!! cool idea of exchanging toggle clasps... that seemed to work just fine!
